The treads on these are actually pretty grippy. The upper feels like real fabric, though the tongue is completely soft and not supported. They have a good bounce, but mostly I got them for two reasons: they fit well, and the dark blue and red styling was pretty slick. I love wearing them for casual Friday, etc. I think of them more as fashion shoes than athletic ones, but they are plenty comfortable.
